I attended Awakening Teen Camp for three years. I experienced predatory behavior from adult staff members. As a teenager, I didn’t know it was predatory for them to pursue me. As an adult, I would be horrified if my kids went to summer camp and kissed/touched with their leaders. I revealed sexual abuse to a counselor, instead of reporting it to DHS as mandatory reporters should do, they called my parents and put me in a REALLY dangerous, complicated situation in my home life. We were housed in a hotel that had an active prostitution ring being run out of it, which both camp staff and campers acknowledged. So much negligence under the supervision of some who are still on the current ELT.
